Bio: 40-something adult-onset athlete who has been running since 2003 and triathloning since 2005 at all distances from 5K to 140.6. I joined IRLAG in Fall 2017 after this super nice Canadian (Angela!) struck up a conversation with me in the pool locker room at 6am! My first 5K was at age 30 & within 3 yrs I did my first sprint tri. First 70.3 (Pumpkinman, ME) was in 2010 & 140.6 (Rev3 Cedar Point, OH) in 2012. I've also done IMMT (2014) and Vineman Full (2015) and weep for the loss of "independent" 70.3 and 140.6 races. Favorite race I've done is Battle of Waterloo, a super fun run-bike-swim-run-swim-run-swim-run-bike-run through a state park in Michigan. I tore my hamstring in 2016 and am no stranger to the long and winding, sometimes unpredictable, road of healing from injury. This has slowed me down somewhat, but has also allowed me to gain a healthier perspective on what/how my body can do; yoga has also been a major contributor to this. 2020 threw us all for a bit of a loop, but I managed a few virtual events and spent a lot of time hiking in the White Mountain National Forest in NH, summiting 17 4000-footer peaks and a handful of shorter ones. I am a frequent race volunteer and love supporting my friends and teammates in their training and racing endeavors. I joined for the sense of community and to challenge myself to do new things with new people. I'm also a member of The Cupcake Cartel. I'm looking forward to seeing what we all can accomplish in 2021!
